Project Spotlight: Lives of Grass Print Re-Creation

Great Wall recently received photos of a project we did with Kathleen McGovern Studio of Interior Design. The idea behind the piece was to create a print based on the work of French artist, Mathilde Roussel. Roussel fabricates human forms made of dirt, that are then covered with living grass and suspended in the environment they are presented in.

The idea behind what Kathleen McGovern Studio of Interior Design wanted to achieve was a very dynamic looking 2D representation of these installations. The artwork was developed, basically by re-creating the work process digitally. First developing a base dirt form for the figure, then placing individual blades of grass over it and rendering a realistic lighting effect throughout. We really enjoy the results and the piece looks fantastic in it's home. Take a look below.
